One of the more complex software solutions we have provided for a customer is used to run nearly every aspect of their restaurant food delivery business in several major cities across the U.S. The system was engineered to meet the high-demand, real-time business operation needs required by our customer. The solution includes software to handle phone and website order placement, communication of orders to restaurants, delivery route planning and driver dispatching, credit card payment processing, reporting, and configuration and management of all aspects of the system. The system also supports communication to and from drivers via mobile web technology, integration of the ordering platform with the customer’s business partners, and integration the customer’s accounting system.
Halstead Intl
Supply Chain Management System
The Supply Chain Management System assists Halstead with the business challenge of maintaining adequate stock levels without carrying excessive inventory. It provides "just-in-time" delivery while also predicting with increasing degrees of accuracy the anticipated arrival date of new inventory. The system achieves these goals by identifying the statuses that the vast majority of orders follow as they travel through the supply chain, establishing a hierarchy of default durations for each status. The following approach are used to identify and gather these details.
- Gather data from existing systems where possible and appropriate.
- Provide a user interface that allows external users to provide data when no system is accessible electronically.
- Lastly, the system allows data to be overridden by Halstead designated super-users.
Accomplishing the above goals answer the customer’s question: "When will my order arrive?". The system has the ability to determine the estimated arrival date regardless of where the order is.
